- Waste collection in various areas of the ASC and its appropriate disposal, with sorting done for recycling or reuse, whenever possible. - Creation and maintenance of infrastructures that allow for the temporary storage of hazardous waste or substances.
Liquid Effluents
- Treatment of waste water from ASC waste water treatment plants. - Treatment of rainwater and washdown water coming from potentially high-pollution areas, in various systems already installed for the separation of hydrocarbons (aircraft parking area, maintenance garages, refuelling areas, areas used for training and drills, vehicle parking areas, washdown areas, etc.) - Periodic monitoring of liquid effluents produced (waste water treatment plants, hydrocarbon separators, rainwater runoff channels).
Water for Human Consumption
- Retrieval and treatment of water coming from artesian wells for use in ASC facilities. - Programme to monitor quality of water for human consumption in compliance with applicable law. - As part of the project for the new Passenger Terminal, new systems were installed to better manage water consumption, namely a vacuum system that allows for waste removal from WCs with a significant reduction in the amount of water used and ‘hands-free’ electronic control systems in the washrooms with faucets on timers operated by motion-detecting sensors. - Environmental Issues during Construction Work - Periodic follow-up and verification of environmental issues to assure that good practices are in place and that all is in compliance to both applicable legislation and the Environmental Policy established by ANA, SA in order to guarantee the prevention/minimisation of potentially harmful environmental impact.
Contamination of the Soil and Water Resources
- Analyses of soil contamination. - Programme for monitoring groundwater via piezometer system at the ASC. - Decontamination programme for PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls)
Noise
- Installation and operation of noise monitoring system at ASC comprised of 3 fixed stations and 1 mobile unit.
Air Quality
- Air quality monitoring programme in the ASC perimeter.
Environmental Awareness
- Conducting various activities to sensitise and raise environmental awareness with staff and those entities that work with ASC.
