RYANAIR launches 4 new routes from Faro
The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair, Faro Airport and Algarve Tourism held a press conference to announce the launch of 4 new regular routes from Faro.
Dusseldorf Weeze, East Midlands, Glasgow and Liverpool are the new frequent destinations to be served by Ryanair this winter, and it is estimated they will represent an annual increase of 160,000 passengers/year. (See the table of schedules).
With these new direct services, the Irish company Ryanair is increasing the number of destinations served to and from Faro Airport to 9. Direct flights to Brussels Charleroi, Dusseldorf Weeze, Dublin, East Midlands, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Liverpool, London and Shannon are now offered by Ryanair from Faro this IATA winter.
The press conference was led by Faro Airport’s Head of Marketing, Francisco Vieira Pita, Ryanair’s Europe Communications Director, Daniel de Carvalho, the President of Algarve Tourism, António Pina, and the Director of the Algarve Tourism Association, Daniel Queirós. Also present were representatives from regional bodies and partners in the tourism sector and a number of media organizations.
According to Francisco Vieira Pita “The fact that Ryanair is continuing to open up new routes to Faro Airport is a clear sign of this company’s commitment to the region and the potential of the Algarve as a tourist destination of note. It should be highlighted that the new routes are opening during the winter period, contributing to the much desired reduction in seasonality. It is also important to mention how decisive the cooperation between the airport and the local and national tourism promotion bodies has been for the opening of these new services.”
Daniel de Carvalho told the press conference “We are truly excited about beginning these new routes from Faro Airport. Ryanair now offers, at the lowest cost and without fuel charges, a total of 9 destinations to and from Faro, thus proving the popularity of Ryanair as the airline with the lowest prices in Portugal. To date Ryanair has transported over 670,000 passengers to Faro, demonstrating the continuing success and growth of the Algarve region, and thus contributing to an increase in employment and tourism income for the region.
To celebrate the new routes Ryanair is offering seats at 1€ (including taxes) on flights departing from Faro Airport. We encourage passengers to visit our site www.ryanair.com to book their flights on one of our 800 routes as soon as possible. This offer ends at midnight on Thursday.”
